PAPER LAMPSHADE

They have been around for years. I remember we had one in our house when I was growing up. Lately they are in fashion again. Very affordable, easy to find and they come in all different colors and sizes.
I decided to upcycle mine. All you need is the lampshade, very thin paper ( I used 2 unlined books that I cut up) and some sellotape.

It took about a hour to make and with the help of a few friends it was tons of fun to make!

  1. Hey, this is really cool!

How did you do the wiring?

My girlfriend came home with two, exactly like yours, and i was trying forever to figure out how to retrofit a normal light bulb socket to hang them.

So, I rigged up something that doesn't really work well, and also came up with this idea...

Check it out and let me know what you think?

    Thanks!

  2. Hey there, Lucky for me there was already a suspended light fitting installed. All I had to do was clip the lampshade around the wire coming from the ceiling and tada!! Maybe a electrician can give you some advise. Goodluck and hope you get it right!

  3. Hey :)

thanks for this awsome easy DIY! Tried it myself for our bedroom and most people think its a designer-lampshade :D I used hot glue because the tape would not stick to my lampshade.

And I featured your Blog here: http://dasminiversum.blogspot.de/2014/04/ein-kleines-bisschen-zeit.html (in German)

  4. This is beautiful. Question: is it just the center of the fold that is taped to the shade? Or is each piece of paper taped in more than one place?
Thanks so much for the wonderful idea.

  10. This is annoying, to find someone who has done such a great job and is willing to share it and then people like Ashlyine use the space to advertise. This is a great lamp, I love it and really appreciate you taking the time to share it with us.
