4 THE LOVE OF FRAMES

I love going round to markets and thrift shops to see what treasures I could find. One of my favorite things to buy could possibly be frames. Some are perfect as they are, but some need a bit of TLC before they are ready to be displayed.

These frames I bought at a church bazaar for R4 each, what a bargain! I loved the detailing, but only 2 of the frames still had pictures in it, so I needed to make a plan.

VUVUZELA LAMP

The vuvuzela is a topic of great discussion and controversy, you either love it or hate it, but how can it aid to the design world? With it’s shape and colours it gives room for endless design possibilities. Here is a way of making a bedside lamp that is cost effective, quick and very easy to make at home:
What you will need:
Vuvuzela
Lighting fixtures
Lamp shade of choice
Light bulb
Electrical Cable
Light switch

I decided to spray my vuvuzela white, but you can keep its original colour or spray it any colour of the rainbow. Making patterns is also an option.
Drill a small hole close to the end of the larger side of the vuvuzela, this will be used to pull the cable through.
Connect the electrical cable to the light fixture and feed the cable through the narrow end of the vuvuzela and then through the hole that you have drilled.
Connect the light switch and plug point to the cable.
Fix the light fixture to the vuvu by gluing it to the smaller end of the vuvu,
Then add your lamp shade and light bulb and presto...
It can be used as a bedside lamp, task light or table lamp for any occasion.

SCARF ORGANIZER

I have a weak spot for scarves. I see them as a investment, because no matter how your weight goes up and down, a scarf will always fit.
My collection started growing and I needed a new way to see them all and not get all tangled up if I fold them. When I saw this old bunk bed ladder at the Milnerton stalls for R30 I knew this was the answer. I put it up inside my cupboard in order to save space. And this was the result...
